Crafting Event at Feena Boutique This Friday, July 18, 2014

Feena Boutique at 279 Grove Street will be hosting a special crafting class this Friday, July 18th at 5 pm.

The class, led by Lindsey Crafter, will teach you how to create your own tassel and turn it into a finished necklace.

Pacific Flea Returns for the Season on Saturday, May 10, 2014

Pacific Flea and Antique Market returns with their Spring re-opening event this Saturday, May 10th from 11 am to 6 pm with live music, food and vendors!

Located at 149 Pacific Avenue, Pacific Flea is a multi-dealer outdoor market where you can find antiques, vintage and unique items, including art, furniture, home decor, toys, clothes and more!

Pacific Flea takes place on Saturdays between 11 am and 6 pm and is accessible via the Light Rail (walking distance from the Liberty Park station).

The Thirsty Quaker to Open on Tuesday, February 25, 2014

The eagerly anticipated home brew store The Thirsty Quaker recently announced they will be opening the doors to their new location at 492 Monmouth Street in Hamilton Park this Tuesday, February 25th.

As recently mentioned, The Thirsty Quaker had launched a successful indiegogo campaign last summer in support of their new store which will offer homebrew supplies, a huge selection of craft beer, wine, spirits and community events such as homebrew classes.

CoolVines Now Open, Grand Opening Party Next Weekend (March 1-2, 2014)

CoolVines, a wine merchant with locations in Westfield and Princeton has opened a new location in Jersey City at 255 Grove Street (corner of Grove and York).

Next weekend (March 1st-2nd) CoolVines is throwing a party from 12 pm to close to celebrate their grand opening with wine & beer tastings, Portuguese finger food, live music and a vintage bike raffle.

Word Bookstore's Grand Opening Ceremony on Friday, February 28, 2014

All are invited to the grand opening ceremony of Word Bookstore at 123 Newark Avenue on Friday, February 28th at 10:30 am.

There will be a ribbon-cutting by Mayor Fulop as well as free coffee served during the ceremony.

Word Jersey City is Now Open and Bringing BJ Novak to Jersey City on February 6, 2014

If you walked by the Grove Street PATH recently you may have noticed that Word Jersey City is now open, a much anticipated addition to the area that doubles the number of book stores on Newark Ave (Tachair is only a short walk up the block at 260 Newark Ave).

Word has several exciting upcoming in-store events planned, including an evening with BJ Novak on February 6th to present his new book One More Thing.

The cafe is also set to open this Saturday, January 4th.

Groupon for BJ's Wholesale Club (New Members)

Groupon is offering a nationwide deal on new memberships to BJ's Wholesale Club: $35 for a one-year membership and a $25 gift card. According to Groupon, a one-year membership to BJ's will normally cost $50.

There is a BJ's Wholesale Club on Marin Blvd in downtown Jersey City (in the same plaza as ShopRite and Bed, Bath & Beyond).

Word Bookstore Soft Launch Tomorrow, Saturday, December 14, 2013

The Jersey Journal has reported that the Word Bookstore at 123 Newark Avenue, steps from the Grove Street PATH station, is only days away from opening officially.

The independent bookstore from Greenpoint Brooklyn has been eagerly anticipated in Jersey City since it was first announced in February.

The bookstore will have a "soft" opening tomorrow, Saturday, December 14th at 9 am (cafe to come later).

Tachair, at 260 Newark Avenue, sells both new and used books, hosts events, readings and classes.

Word Brooklyn of Greenpoint is getting ready to open 2,200 square-foot bookstore/cafe next door to Roman Nose.

The WSJ also reports that Chuck Klosterman is scheduled to read from his new book at Word's grand opening of their Jersey City location on July 9.

HGTV's Kitchen Cousins to Start Renovations at 8 Erie Street

8 Erie Street, formerly the Jersey City Police Department
HGTV's Kitchen Cousins, Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri of Brunelleschi Construction, will be cutting the ribbon at 8 Erie Street on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 10am.

The building, formerly the Jersey City Police Department, will be transformed into Tel.Co Lofts, a rental building with a "year-round gourmet marketplace" on the ground floor that will be called Erie Street Market.

There were two WorryWoo Monsters spotted on Grove Street!  They were there for a book signing at the specialty gift and home furnishing store, mxyplyzyk.
