eBooks from the Jersey City Public Library for your Kindle, Nook, eReader

Jersey City Public Library: Pavonia Branch at 326 Eighth Street
Did you know you can get ebooks for your Kindle, Nook, iPad, cell phone or computer from the Jersey City Public Library?  Yet another great service from our local library!

Here's how to get started:

1. If you don't have a library card and PIN you'll need to first visit one of the local branches:
Here are the library branches in the downtown Jersey City area:

Main Branch472 Jersey Avenue (open Mon-Sat)

Pavonia Branch (Hamilton Park)326 Eighth Street (open Mon-Fri)

Bring your photo ID and a recent utility bill from the last 30 days to prove your residence.  If you have your card but lost your PIN you can try emailing support(at)jclibrary.org for assistance.

2. Then you can log on to the JCFPL Digital Library:
http://www.jclibrary.org/main-library-info/jcfpl-digital-library
(Click on the JCFPL Digital Library link in the first sentence)

On the website you can browse the books and audiobooks.

3. Once you've made your selection click on "Borrow".
They you can select the device you want to send it to (note: for Kindle users, you may need to log into your Amazon.com account or create one if you don't have one).

For non-Kindle users, you can download software for your computer, iPhone, iPad, Android device, Blackberry or Windows phone from the JCFPL Digital Library page.

4. If the title you want is not available you can place a hold to receive an email once it becomes available.
You will then have 3 days to check-out the title, otherwise it will go to the next person on the list.  You can place 10 titles on hold at a time.

5. You can have 10 check-outs at a time.

The lending period varies based on the title.  You can also return titles earlier than their due date.

As for the selection, its not quite Amazon.com but they did have several popular titles such as Game of Thrones, Fifty Shades of Grey (their most popular!) and the Harry Potter series so certainly worth checking out!
