Summertime at the Sixth Street Embankment

Some nice flower boxes and plants have appeared alongside the Embankment on Sixth Street.  Hopefully signs of more good things to come!

The Embankment is a historic elevated stone structure that at one time held up Pennsylvania Railroad tracks.  It runs for six blocks along Sixth Street, from Marin Blvd to Brunswick Street.

At approximately 27 feet tall, the Embankment will some day be Jersey City's own amazing Highline Park.

For more information about the Embankment and to get involved, please visit the website of the Embankment Preservation Coalition, the local group that has been the driving force behind saving the Embankment, tirelessly pushing ahead despite many obstacles and setbacks.

Thanks to Viola!
